When I think back over my career, I remember when computers first entered classrooms, when the internet opened up new ways of learning, and when smartphones transformed daily life almost overnight. Each of those shifts began with uncertainty—even fear—but ultimately gave us more than they took away.
AI sits in that same space right now. It doesn’t need to look futuristic to be powerful. Its real strength lies in the little things—saving time on errands, sharpening medical scans, guiding a lost driver down back roads. Those quiet changes add up until, one day, you realize the world feels different.
The funny thing is, you don’t need to wait for AI to arrive—it’s already here. Chances are you’ve used it three or four times today without even noticing. That’s the quiet revolution: no headlines, no movie-style drama, just steady improvements making life a little smarter, step by step.
I look forward to using this platform to explore AI’s impact on education and to connect with colleagues and professionals who share my passion for advancing learning. Having worked in public education for more than thirty years, I know schools flourish when leaders welcome change with vision. AI is not the solution to every challenge we face. But it is a powerful tool we can leverage to promote equity, support teachers in doing what they do best, and prepare students for the future that is already unfolding.
